Leopard Milk Loaf

I made this leopard milk loaf few mths back and I'm so happy that the youtube view hits more than 100K...

"Copy paste from my youtube description box"

I found this recipe from nasilemaklover...

Using the same dough recipe for my giraffe patches loaf : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHUt6...

Original recipe uses dark cocoa powder but i can't find it in the place i'm staying so i substitute with bamboo charcoal powder...

Recipe
Dough
375gm bread flour
35gm sugar
1tsp instant yeast
1/2tsp salt
250gm milk
20gm soften unsalted butter

Chocolate patches
15gm cocoa powder
10gm milk

Bamboo charcoal dough
2gm bamboo charcoal powder
5gm milk

In a big bowl, mix bread flour, sugar and yeast together. Then add salt and milk. Stir to combine then knead into a rough dough. Add soften butter to the dough and continue to knead for 20mins or more.. until the dough is ready. You know it's ready when you stretch the dough to thin layer (it didn't break) and poke a hole (the hole remains the same).

Remove 320gm dough then set it aside to proof for 1hour or double in size.

In the remaining dough, add in cocoa powder and milk. Knead to combine. It will take awhile but eventually it will blended in..

Remove 205gm cocoa dough then set it aside to proof for 1 hour or until double in size.

Add bamboo charcoal powder and milk into the remaining dough and knead till combine. Set it aside to proof for 1 hour or until double in size.

For chocolate dough, divide into 38gmx2 (large) and 25gmx5 (small) balls...adjust to the final weight of the dough..

For bamboo charcoal dough, divide into 36gmx2 (large) and 23gmx5 (small) balls... adjust to the final weight of the dough...

For plain dough, divide into 55gmx2 (large) and 40gmx5 (small) balls... adjust to the final weight of the dough..

Cover with towel to prevent drying out the dough..

Using a rolling pin, flatten cocoa dough then roll into oval shape. Shape it like rolling a swiss roll then roll in the pan length. Do the same for all the cocoa dough.. set aside..

Using a rolling pin, flatten bamboo charcoal dough then roll into oval shape big enough to cover the cocoa dough. Wrap it around cocoa dough, leaving some edges seal and some not...do the same for all the bamboo charcoal dough... set aside...

Using a rolling pin, flatten the plain dough and roll into oval shape big enough to cover the mix dough and seal all edges...

Roll the dough into double the length of the pan, then cut it into half.. do the same for all the dough..

In a lightly grease pan, randomly arrange the dough into the pan and let it rise until 90% full. Cover it then let it sit for 1hour before baking in 180c fan force oven for 30-35mins..

Once done, take it out from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing it...

And there you have it, leopard printed loaf...

Smart Shopping

I don't follow fashion trend...so I do not need any new arrival on my clothes, shoes, hair, gadgets etc... As long as I find it comfortable and affordable I will consider on to buy or not to buy...

CNY is around the corner, many already start shopping for clothes and there's a lot of promo going on too... Today I'm going to share a few things that I bought while jalaning a few shopping mall...

At aeon bm we bought few pants for the boys at PDI. The jeans is only rm39 and available in 2-3y and 6-7y, just nice for my boys. Oh well they are wearing a size smaller due to their petite size. I have put my budgets on jeans below rm40 will be considered... Also grab each of them two colors of normal short pants for rm19 each. That settle for their pants in CNY... Might add another pants if I can find suitable jeans/cargo short pants less than rm30...

As for myself, I didn't plan to buy any clothes for CNY since in few mths my tummy will be showing and I will need maternity clothes so I went to scarlet mum and have my rounds. Just nice there's 50% sales going on... And when I look at the price tag it was rm15. I asked the promoter... "Ini sudah diskaun belum?" And she said the price stated is not discounted yet.. So after discount it's only rm7.50/pc. Hit my budget spot right away so I chosen 5pcs which cost me less than rm40 .. What a great bargain... It was comfy to wear too... It's good enough for me to rotate for the next 9mths...I also have some old maternity clothes that I kept and also some donation clothes from other mummies...

I still need maternity pants tho but I still could fit on my short pants so that I'll put it on my later on to buy list.

Big boss came across a winter jacket at 50% discount. Before discount it was rm399. He already let the cacing korek his butt... As he's going for his company trip next year to Amsterdam and it's chilly cold there 10-1c... So it's ok to buy if it's at a good price... While we are considering, the promoter came over and said "hari ini special, 70% discount" ... You can see our eyes gleaming with joy... "Ok angkat ini" LOL how to say no to a winter jacket that only cost rm120...

Settled our shopping for the day...

Today we went to Gurney Paragon, at PDI again we bought a super price rm9 long sleeve t for the boys. Usually I'll mark PDI when they have super price sale which usually their TShirt for children is at rm9 only. There's not many choice remain on the rack so I only bought 1 for them. I'm still hunting for other PDI store for their super price promo so I can get at least a dozen each short sleeve for them to wear throughout year 2016. Pasar malam also can't get less than rm10 TShirt now a days and this is definitely in good quality cause the one they are wearing last 1 year and still in good condition...

While we are at parkson, we saw a deal corner..so we head over and have a look... There's some 100% cotton long sleeve sweater like t at rm19.90 so we choose 1 each for the boy and when we pay we got surprise it actually got another 20% discount so it's just about rm16 each... What a deal...

At H&M big boss is in love with this fluffy wooly rabbit jumpsuit and it got 50% promo...instead of rm80 it's only rm40... Tho I find it is still super early to get anything for our baby #3, big boss insist that we can keep it first... So ya we bought that too else I think he will have nightmare tonight....

Usually we will hunt for promo items from PDI, H&M, Brands Outlet, Aeon and parkson.... Just because the items is not new arrival doesn't mean it's bad.. It's still in good quality and chic looking... To me this is what I call smart shopping tho some said I'm stingy... I will still buy new arrival if I really in love with it and it didnt go over my budget a lot... But that's once in awhile story ....

New Year Eve Dinner

Happy new year 2016... On new year eve dinner we decided to eat out instead of cooking at home...we don't really have any plan on where to eat but just decided on whether western or korean... Butterworth tho it's quite a popular town, it's still very kampung comparing to island because we here got limited shopping mall, restaurant and cafes etc...

We drove around a few places, from k.o.b.q to who's bryan, james foo, raja ular piknik everyday, salt and pepper, big A and we ended up in bbq in love cafe.. It's a so called korean restaurant...

I guess the theme for the night is cowboy as all waiter and waitresses are dress in fairly good looking cowboy attire... The pricing for the food is not over the top expensive but it's totally not korean authentic... More like a fusion of jap and kor...

We ordered set A which serves 2 person... For rm69.90.. Inside the set include 1 kimchi jiggae, 1 plate fried mandoo, 1 plate marinated pork belly, 5 banchan (cause one is repeated), 2 bowl of rice, 1 plate of lettuce. 2 types of sauce, garlic, and 1 fried Japanese style fish which I forgotten the name... Oh not to forget two ice cream...

The kimchi soup is a total fail... It's totally not kimchi jiggae at all.. It taste tomato...something like borscht soup... Inside only some soft tofu, kimchi, carrot and slice of meat...

The fried mandoo was okay at least for the taste.. It was wrap in ingot shape..comes with a sweet sauce...which i forgotten to snap picture

The marinated pork belly is marinated but nothing taste korean.. The meat was soft at least...

The banchan comes in kimchi (not nice), radish kimchi, sausages, kimchi cucumber, and blanched vege which I'm not sure what type of vege...

The bowl of rice is serve in a dog food plate sort of >< not in a stainless steel bowl and the spoon is definitely not Korean style cutleries...

The sauce, got samyang at least and another is garlic sauce, something like our chicken rice garlic sauce...

No comment on the fried fish since I don't eat it but big boss finish it all so I assume it was a okay...

The ice cream is not even a scoop..

Well it's considered a okay if you are not particularly wants to enjoy an authentic Korean food...

We also ordered kimbap but it was not available on that day...

For the boys, I ordered miso soup for 1 person portion which cost rm5. I didn't taste it but I guess it's okay because the picky Kyle finished his rice with the soup... The soup is miso, with some kelp and tofu...

Keith like usual only took white rice and ice cream...

Also if you like and share their fb page they will give u 1 mochi free... So big boss and I shared we got two mochi free LOL...

If you ask me whether I'll be visiting again, the answer will be no...because to me it's nothing Korean there... I can cook a better kimchi jiggae ... Haha

Household budget

My mum always nag me on not pampering myself and I'm a stingy bitch who always tell the whole world I'm poor... To her, we are suppose to only show our good to others and sweep the bad under the rag... We are suppose to spend and enjoy ourselves... Why can't I be a little tiny bit like her...

Oh well, I don't purposely tell the whole world I'm poor..it's just that the way I chose to spend the money is totally different from my mum..my big boss is a salaried man, our income is pretty fix and I'm a sahm/wahm. I got my own income but very small amount, sometimes not even enough to cover anything at all...so yes I'm poor since my income is not fix haha...

We can't spend per meal eating hundred of dollars, we can't sit cafes everyday, we can't shop without looking at the price tag, we can't just buy whatever we want because our mthly income is limited. It's different with my mum or sis which they own their own business, their income goes by 5 to 6 digits  per mth... Of course having own business is a luxury but not everyone got the business luck...

Matter aside, my little family is considered the middle income family... We own our own house and two cars...but we still can't afford to spend without thinking.. Beside now, we have to think of future we need savings too...

House loan - rm1xxx (apt in mainland)
Car loan - rm1xxx (for 1 car, as mine already clear from loan)
Utilities - rm1xxx (tnb, pba, unifi, maintenance fees, indah water, astro, etc)
Sundries - rm5xx
Groceries - rm5xx (inclusive my homecooked meal)
Insurance - rm7xx (4 of us at the min)
Eating out - rm4xx (once or twice per week)
Kids sch fees - rm1xxx

This is our must need household income per mth which currently fully bear by big boss...which haven't include saving, credit card payment, car wash, car maintenance fees, petrol etc....

How can we have the luxury to spend more? This is already above average of a lot of other people...which I'm very thankful that big boss really work hard to provide his family all this... And friends who help a little along the way when I really needed them...
The little 3 is coming along.. We need to spend extra on diaper... Uh oh...

I'm still looking for something that I can work at home and stable enough to help on my little family...

On the next post I'll share about how I shop... Smart shopping aka stingy mama shopping...lol...
